Sigma Delta Tau
at the university of texas

Welcome!
Welcome to the Tau Chapter of Sigma Delta Tau at the University of Texas at Austin!
Originally established in 1939, after taking a brief break from campus, the Tau Chapter is back and better than ever! We aim to honor Tau’s rich history on the Forty Acres while also looking hopefully toward the future. We hope to foster our national values of strength in individuality, connection through sisterhood, engagement for a lifetime, and enriching community.
Continuing our Legacy
Sigma Delta Tau has an incredibly rich history at the University of Texas at Austin. From our establishment on the 40 acres in 1939, SDT was a place of sisterhood, community, and leadership, where women worked together to build a legacy we hope to continue.
Our Pillars
Community
From on the 40 acres, to Austin, to the country as a whole, Sigma Delta Tau helps women find and support their communities.
Sisterhood
As members of Texas Sigma Delta Tau, we are more than just friends, we’re sisters. We create memories and bonds to last a lifetime, from our time here at UT to beyond.
Leadership
As we work to rebuild and reimagine Tau Chapter on our campus, our sisters have become extraordinary leaders. Whether it be on exec or through helping to strengthen our sisterhood as a general member, leadership is a core tenet of our chapter.
Legacy
From the DAMGIRLs in 1917 to our Tau Chapter founders in 1939, we are dedicated to upholding our legacy and establishing our own.
Why Texas Sigma Delta Tau?
Gianna R.
Director of Events
“I honestly never pictured myself joining a sorority when I came to college, but I’m so glad I took the leap with SDT. I was looking for something real, a place to feel connected and supported, and I found all that and more with the girls here. This sisterhood has brought me incredible friendships, helped me grow as a leader, and pushed me to be my best, both personally and professionally. I’m so excited to see what this year brings and couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an amazing group of women!”

VP of Membership Experience
“I am so incredibly grateful for the group of bright, dedicated girls that Texas Sig Delt has brought into my life. I joined Sig Delt to make UT’s large campus feel smaller and less daunting. SDT has quickly become my home away from home and has given me my best friends and sisters who I do everything with, from sweet treat runs to meaningful Shabbat dinners!”
Cariene P.
Apparel Chair
“When I first came to UT, I felt so overwhelmed adjusting to a new way of life. I really wanted to find a sisterhood on campus. When I first stepped into SDT, I immediately felt so welcomed by every single girl. The feeling I got was unexplainable. Every girl was the sweetest and I knew from that moment that I found my people. I never thought I would ever join a sorority, but truly the girls make it so worth it! I always find myself so excited to hang out with them whenever possible or if it’s just simply to catch up at chapter!”
